NEW PROGRAM:  I wanted to introduce you to a new program developed at Big Sandy Camp to help out churches with their Day Camp (Vacation Bible School) program in the summer.  This year we are only providing a max of four Day Camps, each being four days long. We’re anticipating adding more weeks in years to come.  Other camps that run Day Camps for their churches have had an incredible response, running up to 28 Day Camps in the 5 state area during one summer.  I’ve included a sample contract with this letter for you to see what the program looks like.  Basically, Big Sandy Camp would send out 2-4 trained summer staff to your church with materials (crafts and recreation equipment) to help set up and run a Day Camp program from Monday through Thursday, ending with a Closing Rally Thursday evening (parents are invited).  The church would assist in advertising, recruiting, and registration and also provide a place for our staff to stay with food to eat during the week along with a snack for the Day Campers and also some additional staff depending on the need.  The benefits of this program would include your church getting help with a Day Camp program that would provide Biblical training to both churched and non-churched kids in your community.  Some (or all) of those kids and their parents may end up being new families that attend your church.  The program would also help develop and maintain the relationship between your church and Big Sandy Camp.   The four weeks that will be available this coming summer are as follows:

June 14-18, 2009

July 19-23, 2009

August 2-6, 2009

August 9-13, 2009

THEME:  This year our theme is going to be “Super Heroes – The Fantastic 50” based on Ephesians 3:16-18, “I pray that out of his glorious riches he may strengthen you with power through his Spirit in your inner being, so that Christ may dwell in your hearts through faith.  And I pray that you, being rooted and established in love, may have power, together with all the saints, to grasp how wide and long and high and deep is the love of Christ.”  As we celebrate this milestone of 50 years of camp, we’ll be learning all about the heroes of the Bible, of Big Sandy Camp’s past and also about the hero within.

INFO. WE NEED:  If you think your church is interested in having us come and help set up and run a Day Camp, then you’ll need to have someone call in (218-426-3389 x11) or email (tate@bigsandycamp.com) camp or apply online above with your top 3 choices for the dates you’d like, as well as a person who will be the contact person from your church and act as the Church Coordinator. 

CALL-IN DAY:  Because we expect a good response, we’ll be accepting calls, emails or online applications with your information beginning on Wednesday, December 3^rd from 9:00 am – 5:00pm.  As long as there is still a week available, you may still apply beyond that date.  If you have any additional questions, please contact Tate Watts at the number or email below.
